BIG News....----=====>

In the Autumn, or the Fall to use the American, which while I'm on that subject; I understand the use of the word Fall for Autumn. It's very descriptive - the leaves Fall is the reasoning I get from the Americans I ask, and that's all very well BUT it's not very imaginative... I mean following that the seasons would be Fall, Cold, Wet, Warm.. nor is it very romantic... but anyway, I digress (who me, jump from one subject to another and not finish what I was saying...which, would be another digression I suppose... so, where were we.... I'll start again.

In the Autumn (or Fall, insert rolling eyes here) I will be returning to University to study 3D Animation and Design and (all being well - i.e. I pass) I'll go onto Video Game design and Production. Hopefully leading me into the Video Game industry!

It's a full time course, which considering I've not really been doing anything full time for about two years now (discussions about laying about will be duly ignored) this is going to come as a shock to the system. But to be honest I need a change...

I think that I'll have fun as well as learn stuff and who knows where this could go :oD

Anyway... have a great weekend...

Pulling faces

Myself and a couple of friends, I won't name the guilty parties - they know who they are, tried out iChat AV (an Audio/Video mesenging system) on the Mac the other day.

There we are sitting with thosands of pounds/dollars of equipment around us with video cameras pointed at us and over thousands of miles we can see and hear each other and what do we do?

Yup, you guessed it (not very hard from the title) we pulled silly faces at each other and make rude signs! Then quickly run out of things to say. Crazy, but very very funny.

What is it with video/tv cameras? They get pointed at us and we wave. jump up and down, grin like idiots and make funny faces. It'e got to be some collective sub-concious thing... then again maybe not, maybe we just like to pull faces.

Ho hum...

Athletic Prowess....

No not me... The band Athlete! Sheesh, me athletic? Maybe virtually.

Saturday, was Athlete and Snow Patrol's turn to deafen and delight, and I have to say Athlete were great, they played a good set taken from both CD's though they really should have played El Salvadore but you can't have everything. They can really play their stuff live and the singer has a great voice.

Then Snow Patrol entered the fray.. Now, I like Snow Patrol, they're good, not great but good and showing potential. But the live show needs some work, the lead singer either cannot sing when playing rythm/lead guitar or he can't sing live. This band was musically spot on but the singing was poor, not bad just not what it is on the CD.

But it was a good night, I met and chatted with Athlete fo a while and they had certainly attracted new fans. They were wondering why the t-shirts weren't doing so well, hmmm could it be that it's because there's no image of any kind on the t-shirt, just the word ATHLETE. I didn't get one... I'm not about to walk around with ATHLETE branded across what is (all too obviously - I'm afraid to say) not an athletic chest.

On the subject of merchandising again (and I promise no knickers in this one) Snow Patrol had seven different t-shirts, several posters, a program, the CD's and guitar tab books! It was a complete store in there! mad.

So, that was the weekend.... fun stuff ;-)

Live Music overload!

Tuesday night was the turn of the Stereophonics to entertain us (not just us of course, there were on or two other people ;o) but anyway, they put on a great show, playing some of their old faves and new stuff from their new CD. They were having a good time on stage so the crowd had a good time.... Though, I could have done with my welsh friend there (K) as he kept mumbling stuff with his welsh accent and nobody had a clue what he was babbling about. ;o)

This weekend is Snow Patrol and Athlete, Karen is missing this one for a friends party so I get to go with my mate Rob (Who has never heard of Snow Patrol or Athlete as they have not appeared on Sesame Street or such. This could be ... erm ... interesting ;oP

But then it goes all quiet (I'm not sure if that pun was intended) until October with Jethro Tull paying us a visit.

It's interesting to me (and possibly the Brits who read this) that I get to see alot of BIG UK bands in small venues 'coz they're not so huge here. The Stereophonics played the Paradise Club in Boston, which might hold 1,000 peeps on a good night.

Any-road-up, enough rambling, back to work for this boy....

Hitchhiking the galaxy....

Yesterday I left Earth and went to Vogsphere, Magrathea and Earth Mark II (among other places).

So, can I complain about the film.... well, yes, but then I can complain about the Radio/Book/TV versions too. They all contradict each other and as a fan I have my favourite bits of each that aren't in the others and so on.

This is just another version of the Guide and I liked it in its own way. It's funny, strange and silly (everything that a version of the Guide should be). I won't say too much, I don't want to spoil the jokes..... but I enjoyed it and will get it on DVD to watch again (I'm sure there are a bunch of in jokes I missed).

You should see it though, if you liked any version of the Guide you should see it... go ..... now. Well? anyone there? Good they've all gone.... just a minute.... what was that....

Oh no not again!
